Kieran is a senior lawyer specialising in Cyber and Financial Lines. Kieran’s practice centres around data breach and privacy, as well as coverage and defence work in D&O, professional indemnity and fidelity claims.
Before joining W+K, Kieran lead a large Financial Lines claims team, which has seen him develop a deep understanding of claims processes and the management of all stakeholder expectations across insurers, brokers, insureds, adjusters, TPAs and co-insurers. Kieran’s focus is on developing strategic solutions, balancing the interests of all stakeholders in order to achieve optimal and commercial outcomes.
Kieran has experience in managing cyber claims, from ransomware attacks to full scale breaches, and acting as a cyber breach lawyer for 1st and 3rd party cyber risks and has experience setting up and managing data breach response and vendor teams. Kieran has advised clients on their privacy and notification obligations under the Notifiable Data Breach Scheme in Australia (and equivalents overseas) and has also acted for insurers in a number of contentious social engineering and phishing claims under cyber and crime policies.
Other financial lines claims Kieran has acted on include shareholder class actions against ASX200 listed companies, class actions against banks and asset managers, breach of duty claims against directors, representing directors and officers at formal investigations and negligence claims against financial institutions ranging from non-bank lenders to stockbrokers..
